The ‘flick’ of hair on the right side of her head represents the highest peak in the Durmitor mountain range, Боботов Кук, while the wavy parts framing her face represent the Bay of Kotor. Just like other countries residing within the Mediterranean and long periods spent under the sun, she has a rather olive complexion.
Although today is wears more modern clothes, sometimes she wears one of the traditional Montenegrin folklore costumes. This consists of a white cotton bustier with a košulja made of almost transparent gauzelike silk and a linen underskirt. A short-sleeved red bolero with Balkan-design gold applique embroidery along the edges is worn over this. Atop of these is a pale yellow coloured long-sleeved vest with even more gold designs. She wears a ćemer, a type of belt made of several metal plates, around her waist with chains hanging off it. She wears the traditional footwear called opanci with white stockings and sometimes a pillbox hat which is red with a black brim and fine gold applique embroidery atop of it.
Personality: Elena is a strong and independent woman who derives from a race of well-knit warriors and highlanders living in the harsh limestone mountains. Her culture follows a unique tribal framework and is the ethic ideal of Čojstvo i Junaštvo, roughly translated as "Humanity and Bravery". She is intensely chivalrous and will always be prepared to defend her home as well as what she regards as perpetual rights.
She reflects the traits of a typical Montenegrin woman; a pleasant blend of tradition and modernity. She has strong work ethic and always takes an equal share of labour as the male. However, sometimes it’s difficult to get her motivated and may even feel insulted if someone requested her to do something not matter how simple the task may be.
She tends to forget her manners every now and then due to her tribal past and can act quite sassy when she wants to be. She's not very lady-like you could say, and her short-fused temper can get the better of her. If she does not like something, she will express it. Otherwise, she is rather humble and social. She is not shy in the least bit. She is not typically pouty or overly dramatic – rather she is calm and considerate, even nurturing towards those significant to her. Elena enjoys a range of sports and finds joy in participating in competitions, although she may not be the best in this field.
